Eastern Greene Schools - Need to Know

Regarding the Eastern School. I am very aware of the concern and the issue, except not in detail. The Board of Commissioners have no jurisdiction whatsoever over the School District. The school board and the school superintendent are the governing force for the school districts. I would suggest that you attend a School Board meeting and call the Superintendent of Eastern Schools.
The admin office number is in the book.

There has been a special public meeting called that I was made aware of ----- it is January 18th at 9 a.m. at the Eastern Greene Elementary cafeteria/community room. There is also a petition being passed around to attempt to stop the new $16M project and raising property taxes to do it. You can contact a Mark Adams with a Springville address in order to get your name on the petition. This public meeting is very very important. They have managed to get the Department of Local Government and Finance to attend the meeting ---- this means that it may be possible to stop the project.
It is reported that property taxes could increase by 50% due to this project.

It has been a while since I last updated my website.
There have been many good things (yet again) that have happened in Greene County since my last update.

1)      The Board of Commissioners were presented with community interest in re-instating the Animal Control Commission. Although this may be a controversial issue, knowledge is the means to an end. The Board acknowledged that the name should/could be changed to “Animal Advisory Commission” and the Board is soliciting interested taxpayers for membership. The Board has agreed that this Commission will be discussed again after the first of the year. If you are interested in serving the community on this advisory commission, feel free to contact either one of us. Review the Animal Control Ordinance currently in place. (.PDF file HERE)

2)      The State of Indiana completed the purchase of the Goose Pond properties. This will be a major shot in the arm of Greene County tourism. More people, more outside dollars. Enjoy Greene County! For more information follow these links:

3)      The Board of Commissioners executed and signed a resolution regarding I-69. The Board’s resolution acknowledges our desire for 3 interchanges in addition to the interchange at St Rd 231. This resolution also notes that the Board of Commissioners prefers the I-69 extension not be a Toll Road.

4)      The GC Community Foundation organized a public forum regarding Tourism in Greene County. The forum was well attended and many interesting view-points were heard from panel members and the public. 5)      The State of Indiana announced the certification of the first Tri-County Technology Park – West Gate @ Crane. Many dedicated and passionate people have worked hard and long to make this happen for Greene, Martin and Daviess counties. The official announcement was made at Ivy Tech in Bloomington by the Lt. Governor Becky Skillman on Thursday, December 15th. This is exciting news for Greene County, Crane and the surrounding communities. I attended the event as well as two council members- Ken Gremore and Ed Cullison.
