I oppose this resolution and petition procedure and do so for the following reasons: 1)      It is the responsibility of the GC Board of Commissioners to determine the necessary costs to finish this project. This resolution tasks the Council with determining the cost necessary to complete the project. For this reason, I oppose it. 2)      On Jan 4, during a meeting illegally called by the County Attorney, the new commissioners, Mr. Hasler and myself were informed by the County Attorney that she would provide us with complete information regarding the renovation project. 3)      On Jan 10 during executive session, the commissioners and the council were presented with a summary sheet advising of an estimated financial shortfall for this project of greater than $2.5M. My additional research has proven that this estimated number may not be enough. 4)       At this same Jan 10 meeting, I requested that the County Attorney produce the necessary detailed project data. During a Jan 25th executive session, for a second time, I requested that all pertinent data regarding the financial status of this project be produced. I have yet to receive complete data regarding the financial status of this project. I oppose and abstain from signing this resolution.   If the GC Council is able to additionally fund this project without raising taxes and without severely hindering GC Government as we know it, all citizens will owe them the highest level of respect and sincere gratitude.
