To the Greene County Taxpayers:   I thank you for putting your trust in me on November 2nd, to bring your bests interests to bear in all concerns regarding Greene County Government. I will represent you to the very best of my ability. On the campaign trail I heard two issues; The Courthouse Renovation and maintenance of our county roads. I made a pledge: to see that wheel tax dollars are spent with visible results. For the first time in more than 20 years, the District 1 Commissioner- myself – has not been allowed to place the Foreman within the East Side Highway Garage.  I have been personally assured by Commissioners Bart Beard, Larry Hasler and Highway Superintendent, Mike Hennette, that the taxpayers of the county and more importantly, the taxpayers of District 1 will not suffer from the lack of active and visible road maintenance. What you will not hear is that the previous Commissioner put 4 men to work in the County Highway Department during a county-wide hiring freeze. (March of 2003 and Sept of 2003). For the first time in 20 years, the East Side County Highway Garage now has a phone recorder to assist in managing calls from the public. This should allow more time for road crews to be out on the road. Please keep in mind that the garage phone is a convenience for the garage. You may hear many rumors, even to the extent of retaliation on my part. Quite to the contrary – I heard you and I have listened. All County Highway business goes thru the Superintendent. This position is a public servant position just as I serve you.
